Family

Emil and Doris continue to live in the apartment
above the funeral home, as they have since the Hillsboro location was
purchased. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage in addition to
the over 40 years of funeral service to the area. They have raised a
daughter and three sons, all three becoming licensed funeral directors.
Emil served in both the U.S. Army and Navy prior to becoming a licensed
funeral director in 1957. They have also operated a flooring business,
furniture store, and ambulance service in addition to their many community
service ties.
Gary Picha, the
oldest son, is established with funeral home businesses in the Lake Delton
/ Wisconsin Dells area, Lyndon Station, and Oxford. His son, Gary John
has also become licensed as a funeral director and works in the
operation.
Mara Johnson, works
for the Mount Horeb School District as a teacher in the intermediate
center.
Don
Picha, graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1980 and received his
funeral directors license following graduation from the Milwaukee Area
Technical College in 1984. He operated the Picha Furniture and Funeral
Home in downtown Elroy until closing the store in 2004 and now operates
the funeral home on the east edge of Elroy.
Alan Picha, serves
at the Hillsboro funeral home in addition with his father, Emil. After
graduating from the Hillsboro High School in 1982, he later obtained his
funeral directors license in 1987 from the Milwaukee Area Technical
College.
