Carol
J. Sanders, age 77 years, of Elroy, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at
her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 31, 1932 to Dewey and
Lucy Alicia (Coleman) Worthington at Greenwood, Wisconsin. Carol was united in
marriage to Manuel E. Sanders on March 29, 1952 in Ontario.
She was a wonderful wife and mother, and
worked very hard all her life. Carol worked for Sunstran Corp. in Rockford, IL,
Neumans Feed Mill, C & C Liquidators, and the Duesenberg Co., all in Elroy,
Ho-Chunk Casino at Wisconsin Dells, and a few other jobs in the area.
Carol lived and loved, survivors include her
husband, Manuel of Elroy; two daughters, Cathryn (David) Hooverson of LaCrosse
and Debra (Merlin) Leverenz of Richland Center; grandchildren, Scott (Christine)
Hooverson, Brian (Dayna) Hooverson, Travis (Amanda) Hooverson, Casey (Brant)
Sommerville, Alicia (Tenneson) Burtsfield, and Chad (Donna) Leverenz, who have
lived and cared for her and her husband, Manuel; 2 Step Grandsons; 8
Great-Grandchildren; 5 Step Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren;
sisters, Velma Thomas of Kendall and Nola Raiten of Elroy; and brother, Charles
(Georgine) Worthington of Richland Center. She was preceded in death by her
Parents; three brothers, Dewain, Dewey and Delmaine Worthington, and sister,
Velva Nelson.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at
11:00 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Elroy, with Rev. Wesley Dunbar
officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Picha Funeral Home in Elroy is assisting the family with arrangements. A
special thank you to all the wonderful hospice workers who helped care for her.
