Dorothy A. Stowell, age 90 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 at her home in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.

 

She was born on February 1, 1921 to Joseph and Emma (Shaker) Vrbsky in the Town of Hillsboro, Vernon County, Wisconsin.  Dorothy was united in to marriage to Bernard E. Stowell on June 11, 1941 at the First Congregational Church in Hillsboro.  They farmed for many years in the Town of Hillsboro.  Bernard preceded her in death on August 8, 2001.

 

Dorothy was a very active person and was loved by her family and many friends.  In addition to her work on their farm, Dorothy worked at Badger Ordinance and for many years as a clerk at the Bud Hofmeister Market, Kruk Pharmacy and Peterson Pharmacy all in Hillsboro.  She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in addition to serving as a Sunday School Teacher and in the Church Choir among other things. She was a member of Cesky Den and enjoyed singing with Cesky Den Singers.  She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of area Homemakers Clubs. 

 

Survivors include her grandchildren, Francene (Lee) Abbott, Jacqueline (Douglas) Urban, Nicole (Stacy) Morris and Nathan (Vanessa) Stowell; great-grandchildren, Brandi, Jack, Allisa, Sierra, Mitchell, Mackenzie, and Matthew; great-great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tristan, and Parker; daughter-in-law, Sandra (Gordy) Vierck; brother, Harold (Corky) Vrbsky; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Dick McLees.

 

In addition to her husband, Bernard; she was preceded in death by her Parents; her son, Roger Stowell; sister, Gladys McLees; and a brother, Virgil Vrbsky.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Hillsboro, with Rev. Donald Ehler officiating.  Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and at the Church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
