Flora
Elizabeth (nee: Burdick) Osgood, age 91 years, of rural Elroy, Wisconsin,
formerly of Racine, was promoted to Glory on Sunday, February 22, 2009, passing
away at her home.
She was born on October 10, 1917 to George
and Gladys (Griffin) Burdick at Ontario, Wisconsin, where she grew to womanhood
and graduated from the 8th grade. Flora was united in marriage to
Ross L. Osgood in Lindsey, Wisconsin on December 23, 1934 and was married for 53
years. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1988.
They lived in Racine where she retired from
Motor Specialty as a drill press operator after many years of service. She had
also worked as a matron in the County Jail, worked at restaurants: Eddies
Grill, Clover Club, and Eagle Hotel, and in manufacturing for J I Case and
Walkers. Flora enjoyed fishing, woodcarving, ceramics, stones, decorating
cakes, cooking, sewing, quilting, pillow tops, and various crafts, also house
design. She also was the first to invent a scissor jack. She attended the
Christ Church United Methodist and the Rebecca Lodge at Racine and more recently
attended the United Methodist Church at Wonewoc.
Survivors include her two sons, LeRoy
(Carol) Osgood of Oconto Falls and Ross Robert Bob Osgood of Elroy; one
daughter, Lynn (Richard) Ting of Sturtevant; seven Grandchildren, several
Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Mary)
Burdick of Racine; one sister, Marie (William) Booth of Friendship; and nieces,
nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her husband, Ross, she was
preceded in death by her Parents, three sons, George, Donald, and Elwyn Buddy;
a grandson, Danny Lee; and seven brothers, Charles, George, Arthur, Robert,
Earl, Herbert, and Floyd.
Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in
Wonewoc on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Mara Pehkonen
officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 4 to 7 p.m. The Picha Funeral
Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with these arrangements. Additional
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Sturino Funeral Home in Racine. Burial will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
