Welcome

Frieda Oltilde Dallmann, age 93 years, of Hillsboro, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 6, 2008 at the Serenity House, Tomah, Wisconsin.

She was born on November 9, 1915, at home, the daughter of Gunder Johnson and Sophia Onsager.  Frieda was orphaned by age 9 and reared by her older brothers and sisters without benefit of today's child welfare protections, and lived through the Great Depression.  She grew to adolescence on a farm in Suldal Valley, outside of Mauston, Wisconsin.  She was united in marriage to Milton J. Dallmann on March 3, 1937, in Rockford Illinois.  She lived most of her life in Milwaukee and Sussex where she had worked in women’s retail sales.  She lived in Hillsboro the past 30 years, where she enjoyed her retirement.

In her adult life, as a wife and mother, Frieda loved interior decorating, women's fashion, flower gardening and making floral arrangements.  She is best remembered for her faithfulness to her family, her relatives, her religion, the ease with which she made new friends, and her compassion and gifts to those less fortunate than her and her family. She was loved and will always be in our memory and our thoughts. Frieda was a constant source of comfort and encouragement.  She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Elroy and formerly the Ascension Lutheran Church, Milwaukee.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Nancy) Dallmann of Elroy and Thomas (Donna) Dallmann of Schaumburg, Illinois; four granddaughters, Debra (Ken) Jensen of Tomah, Dawn (Steven) Deitelhoff of LaCrosse, Vicki (William) Dallmann-Papke of Pewaukee, Carrie (Bruce) Petersen of Ashippun; three great grandsons, Jordan Jensen, Luke Petersen, Nathan Peterson; and two great grand daughters; Ashley Jensen and Stephanie Deitelhoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Gunder Johnson and Sophia Onsager, her husband, Milton Dallmann and eight brothers and sisters; Julis Olaus Johnson, Mabel Bertine Mullins , Emma Geneva Johnson, Gunder Edwin Johnson, Anna Elida Salter, Selma Gurine Miller, Ole Gerhard Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, with Rev. Wesley Dunbar officiating.  Friends may call at the Grace Lutheran Church in Elroy on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service following.  Burial will follow in the Millards Prairie Cemetery, rural Elroy.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Serenity House or Cranberry Court in Tomah, WI.  The Picha Funeral Home in Elroy assisted the family with arrangements.
