Gordon Thompson

He was born on March 2, 1924 to Ole and Isabell (Wetley) Thompson near Elroy, Wisconsin. From 1943 to 1945 Gordon served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On D-Day he landed on Normandy, fought at the Battle of Bastogne and all the way to the Battle of the Bulge. He was engaged in farming in the area. He also had worked in a factory in Racine. Gordon was united in marriage on June 28, 1968 to Beverly Moon, the daughter of Paul and Elsie (Vaningan) Moon of Hillsboro. Survivors include his wife, Beverly, also residing at the Bethel Home in Viroqua, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and all his siblings, Irene, Clara, Evelyn, Margaret, Avery, Herbert, Harland, Arthur, Anton, and Clarence. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. Burial of his ashes will be done at a later date at the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. The Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro assisted the family with arrangements. |
