Helen
M. (Preuss) Disrud, age 90 years of Elroy and formerly of Argyle, passed away on
Friday, October 31, 2008 at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wisconsin.
She was born on April 16, 1918 to Alois and
Mary (Drystra) Vlasak at Yuba. Helen attended school in Elroy and worked in
Milwaukee until she was united in marriage to Ervin Preuss on June 6, 1942 in
Elroy. They had a dry cleaning operation in Elroy. Ervin preceded her in death
on December 19, 1957. She then worked at the Mauston Garment Factory.
Helen married Sanford Disrud on June 10,
1961 in Elroy, moving to Blanchardville, she farmed with her husband until 1982,
when they moved to Argyle. She then worked for the Village Library for eleven
years. Sanford preceded her in death on August 12, 2004.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star,
American Legion Auxiliary, Adams Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA. She
also served as Church Librarian and was a member of the Adams Homemakers.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Preuss
(David) Sterba of Hillsboro and Susan Disrud (Douglas) Ganske of Beaver Dam; six
grandchildren, Tami Kepler, Shari Sterba (fiancé Mark Rayha), Lori (Jason)
Schwager, Scott (Jessica) Sterba, Aaron Ganske and Micah Ganske; five
great-grandchildren, Chloe and Gwen Kepler, David and Carter Sterba, and Nolan
Schwager; a sister, Julia Schauer of Elroy; and two brothers, Adolph (Esther)
Vlasak of Elroy and Kenneth (Arlene) Vlasak of Blanchardville. In addition to
her husbands, she was preceded in death by her Parents and three brothers, William,
Frank,
and Leo Vlasak.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday,
November 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy, with Rev.
Edward Zaiser officiating. Burial will be in the Elroy City Cemetery in Elroy.
Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
