Jerald
Jerry A. Johnson, age 84 years, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on March
23, 2009 at his home in rural Hillsboro, Wisconsin after a hard fought battle
with cancer.
He was born on January 5, 1925 in the Town
of Forest, Vernon County, Wisconsin to John and Elva (Hunter) Johnson. He was
the fourth of their five children. His brothers and sisters included Kathleen
(James) Brewen, Alfred (Carmel) Johnson, Loralle (Carol) Johnson, and Mary Ann
(Ed) Schrank. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Ed) Schrank of Edgerton.
His Parents and sister, Kathleen and brothers, Alfred and Loralle, preceded him
in death.
Jerry attended the Salem, Burr Ridge and
Hillsboro Schools and graduated with the Class of 1943. He married Evangeline
Lee on June 1, 1947 in Viroqua and they had a daughter, Cindy. They later
divorced.
Jerry was then united in marriage to Lois
Subera on October 14, 1972 in Valley, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife,
Lois; his children, Cindy (Scott) Blum of Sauk City, John Johnson of Hillsboro,
and Shannon (Bryan) Havlik of Ontario; and five grandchildren, Cory (Kim) Blum,
Tyler Blum, Justin Blum, Olivia Havlik and Gavin Havlik. He was preceded in
death by his grandson, Curt Blum. He will be dearly missed by family and
friends.
Jerry was an avid joke teller, turkey
hunter, card player, and enjoyed singing and bringing a laugh or smile to
others. He also loved to give hugs to people that he met. He was a farmer all
his life on his family farm located on Burr Salem Road. Jerry loved his old
John Deere tractors. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his
Wife, Children and Grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at
11:00 a.m. at the Mount Pisgah Wesleyan Church, rural Ontario, with Rev. Bob
Streeter officiating. Burial will be in the Forest-Burr Cemetery, rural
Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Wednesday
from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of
services.
