Leroy Leverenz

He was born on October 27, 1930 to Robert and Arlene (Brandt) Leverenz near Elroy, Wisconsin. He grew to adulthood in Union Center and attended high school in Hillsboro. Leroy then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On January 26, 1952, Leroy was united in marriage to Shirley Morgan; she preceded him in death on February 20, 1980. He later married Sandra Tyler on September 20, 1986. Leroy was a long time resident of Elroy, working many years as a truck driver, hauling heavy equipment for the Overgaard Construction Company, he also worked for the Walker Stainless Steel Company in Elroy for many years. Following retirement he drove his fifth wheel camper to Arizona where they would spend winters. They also were caretakers of the Club Chaparral campground near Wonewoc for several years. One of Leroys enjoyments was his trucks and tractors. He was a member of the Elroy American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Mauston; son, Ron (Anne) Leverenz of Mauston; stepchildren, Lois (Charles) Schultz of Elroy, Tammy (Paul) Schmidt of Missouri, Tina (Tim) Williams of Virginia, and Tiffany Dryer of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Andrea, Kristen, Jeff, Andrew, Heather, Ryan, Courtney, David, Mikayla, and Dustin; great-grandchildren, Rayne, Josh, and Trey; a sister, Beverly (George) Weber of Elroy; a brother, LaVere (Mary) Leverenz of Blue Grass, Iowa; and 4 nieces and 4 nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Wonewoc. Burial with military rites will be in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery in Wonewoc. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. |
