LeRoy
A. Steffen, age 77 years, of Elroy, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at
the Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
He was born on November 13, 1930 to Gilbert
and Dorothea (Jannusch) Steffen in Elroy, where he grew to adulthood and
graduated from High School. LeRoy was united in marriage to Janice Scott on
September 15, 1951 in New Lisbon. They have lived in the Elroy area where he
was active as a Farmer, Logger and Carpenter. He was an avid outdoorsman,
enjoying hunting, fishing and being in the woods. LeRoy was a member of the
Carpenters Union, Chicago District.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of Elroy;
five children, Dale Steffen of Wonewoc, Deborah (Steven) Hellmich of St.
Charles, IL, LeRoy Steffen Jr. of Elroy, Duane Steffen of Elroy and DeLinda
(Marcus) Campbell of Wonewoc; daughter-in-law, Betty Steffen of Kendall; twelve
grandchildren, Dale Steffen Jr., Andy Steffen, Jason (Jennifer) Hellmich, Adam
(Jenna) Steffen Burns, Malissia Campbell serving in the U.S. Navy, Lee Ann
Steffen, Duane Steffen Jr., Keith Campbell serving in the U.S. Air Force,
Justina Hellmich, Amanda Steffen, and Patrick Campbell; three
great-grandchildren, Cameron, Drake and Kane; a sister, Leah Rae Bright of Gore
Springs, Mississippi and a brother, Arnold (Janet) Steffen of Jackson,
Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a grandson, Scott
Steffen.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at
10:30 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy, with Rev. Alan Tripp
officiating. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy on Saturday
from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
