Lucy
E. Cunningham, age 85 years, of rural Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, August
24, 2009 at the St. Josephs Memorial Hospital in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.
She was born on May 5, 1924 at Cazenovia to
Joseph and Barbara (Hanzel) Solchenberger. Lucy was united in marriage to
Marvin C. Cunningham on October 22, 1947 in St. Anthonys Catholic Church in
Germantown. They lived at Cazenovia for 5 years prior to moving to their dairy
farm in the Town of Union, where she still lived. Marvin preceded her in death
on March 17, 1994.
Lucy was a devoted member of the Catholic
Church, St. Johns at Dilly and later St. Aloysius in Hillsboro, along with
being a member of the Altar Society. In addition to her work on the farm, she
also enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Family was also very important to her
and she never forgot a birthday. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother,
strong, kind and unselfish. Taught the importance of loving and serving God and
family always putting others first.
Survivors include fourteen children, Marvin
Jr. (Terri) of Monroe, Louisiana, Rose (Ron) Remington of New Lisbon, Joseph of
Eden Prairie, Minnesota, William of Hillsboro, Robert of Hillsboro, Richard
(Arlene) of DeForest, Elizabeth (Tom) Wallace of Cashton, Geralyn (Frank) Doerre
of Spring Green, Ann (Ron) Schwartz of New London, Barbara Boyer of Elgin,
Illinois, Victorian (Bert Jr.) Jenks of LaCrosse, Patrick of Hillsboro, Mary
(Jody) Miedema of Bangor and Lori of Osceola; 34 Grandchildren; 23
Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Julia Dylla of Pennsylvania and Lorraine Reinke of
Michigan; and three brothers, John (June) of Fond du Lac, James of California,
and Bernard (Odelia) of Cazenovia. In addition to her husband, Marvin, she was
preceded in death by her Parents and two brothers, Benjamin and Anthony.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 28,
2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father
Joseph Nakwah officiating. Burial will be in the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery
at Dilly. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Thursday
from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
