Marjorie
E. Wojtowicz, age 85 years, of rural Elroy, passed away on Thursday, November
13, 2008 at her home.
She was born on July 10, 1923 to Clarence
and Martha (Slama) Gerken in the Town of Hillsboro, Vernon County, Wisconsin.
Marjorie was united in marriage to Robert Wojtowicz on August 29, 1945 at St.
Patricks Catholic Church in Elroy by the Rev. James Sheridan. He preceded her
in death on March 9, 2007.
She worked for Arthur Overgaard prior to her
marriage, then returned to work again in 1947 and remained working for
Overgaards until the birth of her daughter in 1958. She was treasurer of the
Town of Plymouth from 1962 to 1983, and then she did bookkeeping at home. Marge
worked for Madden Petro from 1984 to 1990, when she retired.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Anne
(Michael) Sears of Nashotah; two grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Christopher Sears
serving in the U.S. Air Force and Diana Sears; a great-grandchild, Maria Sears;
a sister, Gleva Weipking of Miami; a brother Howard Gerken of Tucson; and nieces
and nephews. In addition to her husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by a
brother, Lawrence Gerken.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on
Monday, November 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church in
Elroy with Father Richard Dickman officiating. Burial will be in the Elroy City
Cemetery in Elroy. Friends may call at the Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m.
until 11:00 a.m. The Picha Funeral Home in Elroy assisted the family with
arrangements.
