Martin H. Machovec, age 87 years of Yuba, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wisconsin.

He was born on December 13, 1923 in Hillsboro to Wencil and Martha (Vlasak) Machovec.  He is a lifelong resident of Yuba and has been on the farm since 1952.  Martin was united in marriage to Vivian Revels on December 4, 1948 in Janesville.  He was a farmer, an electrician and enjoyed dancing, storytelling, jokes, singing Czech, liars dice, playing euchre and being a “tinker.”  

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Vivian; seven children, Victor (Suzanne) Machovec of Cazenovia, Kevin (Patty) Machovec of Hillsboro, Debra (Mike) Hubbard of Hillsboro, Lori (Gary) Stanek of Hillsboro, Julie Hendricks of Cazenovia, Joan (Don) Bayer of Wonewoc and Diane (Dale) Woodruff of Elroy; 26 Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Garry and David; grandson, Tony Machovec; and two sisters, Helen Sprague and Dorothy Machovec.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Pastor Barbara S. Miller officiating.  Burial will follow at the Czech’s National Cemetery near Yuba.  Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home, Hillsboro on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until 11 AM.
