Melvin H. Ziems, age 84 years, of Elroy, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston.

He was born on July 12, 1927 to Herman and Ella (Koelling) Ziems in Beecher, Illinois.  Melvin was united in marriage to Grace Gilbert on January 17, 1948 in Momence, Illinois.  They farmed at Beecher and lived at Momence prior to moving to their farm near Elroy in 1960.  In addition to his work on the farm, he also worked several years at the Piggly Wiggly in Hillsboro.  In recent years they have lived in Elroy.

He was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Elroy.  Melvin loved his family and spending time together, they also enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his loving family, wife, Grace; children, Kenneth (Cheri) Ziems of Waunakee, Vicki (Larry) Gower of West Salem, Michael (Marta) Ziems of Tomah and Steven (Tammy) Ziems of Elroy; grandchildren, Stacy Libansky, Christopher Ziems, Michelle Sorens, Curtis Ziems, Nicklaus Ziems, Wendy Jones, Abigail Odiet, Curt Backeberg and Lauralee Ziems; and ten Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his Parents, two Sisters and a Brother.
