Mildred
Mary Lisker, age 86 years, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Monday,
August 10, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
She was born on July 13, 1923 to Veat and
Mary (Jelinek) Sebranek in Richland County. Mildred married Arlie Haugh in
1943. Following his death, Mildred married Edward C. Lisker on June 3, 1947.
Mildred was a dedicated Mother, homemaker
and farmer. After retirement she spent many hours as a nursing home volunteer.
She was a member of St. Anns Altar Society at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in
Hillsboro.
Mildred had many interests including playing
cards, baking, embroidering, making rag rugs, canning, gardening, quilting,
attending auctions and making an occasional visit to a casino. She enjoyed many
hours crafting precious heirlooms which are treasured by her children,
grandchildren and friends.
She was proud of her Czech heritage, which
she demonstrated through her cooking and baking, including her famous kolaches,
rohlicky, and noodles. She and Ed enjoyed listening and dancing to polka
music. They belonged to several area card clubs where they met and developed
many close friendships. Together they traveled to various destinations
including many cruises and numerous trips to visit their son, Joe, in Seattle.
Survivors include her husband, Ed of
Hillsboro; children, Pamela (John) Bohn of Hillsboro, Joseph Lisker of Seattle,
and Patricia (Richard) Link of Madison; grandchildren, Jonathon (Shannon) Bohn,
Melissa Bohn, Joel (Rebecca) Bohn, Angela (fiancé Eric Davidson) Link, Sandra
(Shane) Schuster, and Michael (fiancée Catherine Heidke) Link; great
grandchildren, Paige and Hayden Bohn, Austin and Alyssa Schuster, and Jayde and
Domanic Bohn.
She was preceded in death by her Parents;
husband, Arlie Haugh; sisters, Lucille Rott, Marjorie Hofrichter, and Marcella
Norwalk; and brother, William Sebranek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 14,
2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with Father Joseph
Nakwah officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Thursday from 5 to 7
p.m. and at the Church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
