Rodney M. Nofsinger

 

Rodney M. Nofsinger, age 90 years, of rural Elroy, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.

 

He was born on November 7, 1921 to Frank and Berkie (Marshall) Nofsinger at Valley, Wisconsin.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  Rodney was united in marriage to Frances Steffen on November 28, 1942 in Milwaukee.  They lived most of their life near Elroy on their dairy farm.  She preceded him in death on September 17, 1988.

 

Rodney also worked at Preston Surge in Union Center for 18 years.  He was a member of the American Legion Post in Union Center, serving as Post Commander.  He enjoyed many activities and hobbies including – crossword puzzles, gardening, baseball, fishing and woodcutting.

 

Survivors include his children, Diann Nofsinger of Elroy, Janet (Ken) Field of Wonewoc and Michael (Beth) Nofsinger of Elroy; grandchildren, Brian Hastings, Stacy Winchell, Michaela Nofsinger and Dillon Nofsinger; sister, Carmen Haas of Elroy; brothers, Gerald (Mary Jean) of Union Center, Edsel (Joan) of Madison and Avery (Sharon) of Columbus; and special friend, Mary Lou Carpenter.

 

In addition to his wife, Frances; he was preceded in death by his Parents; son, Rodney Gene; brothers, Merlie and Irvin; and grandson, Ronnie Gene.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy.  Burial with military rites will be at the Millards Prairie Cemetery, rural Elroy.  Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
