Ronald E. Mommaerts, age 72 years, of Yuba, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in the company of his family.

He was born on November 18, 1937 to Raymond and Pearl (Steeno) Mommaerts in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Ron graduated from the Green Bay East High School in 1956, after which he joined the United States Navy.  He was stationed at the Glenview Naval Air Station, where he was a corpsman.  While there he met his wife, Georgia (Dinger) and they were married on March 15, 1958.

They moved to Northbrook, Illinois where they started a family and Ron joined the union apprenticeship program, graduating as a master carpenter 3 years later. He started a construction business there, later relocating to DePere, Wisconsin. Finally settling in Yuba, where they have lived for almost 30 years.

Ron was a kind and gentle man with a quiet strength of character.  He was a gifted carpenter, who excelled in home building and restoration, along with fine cabinetry.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia of Yuba; daughter, Michelle “Shelly” (Jeffrey) Meyer of Belmont; son, Raymond “Rick” Mommaerts and Rick’s special friend, Amanda Camiolo of Hillsboro; grandson, Justin Mommaerts of LaCrosse; brother, Brad (Barbara) Mommaerts of Green Bay; mother-in-law, Jeanette Dinger of Richland Center; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his special cat, Birdie.

The family will be hosting a celebration of his life at a future time during the warmer months of 2010.
