Sherry Huffman, age 62
years, of Yuba, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Meriter
Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
She was born on January 12,
1947 to Vilo James and Esther Mae (Nofsinger) McCoy at Hillsboro. She grew to
adulthood in the Valley area and graduated from the Hillsboro High School in
1965. She then worked at Madison in a Secretarial Pool.
Sherry was united in
marriage to Donald Huffman on May 18, 1968 in Valley. They dairy farm near
Yuba, in addition she had worked at the Parachute Factory and MECA Sportswear in
Hillsboro and more recently at Lands End for 10 years in Reedsburg. She was
very active in the Yuba community and with the Yuba Homemakers. She also was a
member of the Richland County Farm Women and was named Outstanding Farm Wife of
the Year in 1991. Sherry enjoyed quilting, sewing and working in her garden,
but most of all truly loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Survivors include her
husband, Don of Yuba; son, Jason (Hollie) Huffman and their children, Hope,
Ethan, Lydia and Caroline of Yuba; sister-in-law, Donna Kay McCoy of Valley;
brother, Robert (Barbara) McCoy of Valley; sisters, Loreen (Tom) Myers of
Hillsboro and Laina (Gregory) Sandmire of Hillsboro; brothers-in-law, Edward
(Linda) Huffman of Montfort and Jim (Sue) Huffman of Yuba; and a special friend,
Donna Gehrig of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her Parents; an infant
son, George Allen Huffman; an infant sister, Laurna; and a brother, John
McCoy.
Funeral Services will be
held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Burr Wesleyan Church,
rural Hillsboro, with Rev. Roger Miller officiating. Burial will be in the
Czechs National Cemetery near Yuba. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home
in Hillsboro on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and at the Church on Saturday from 12:00
noon until the time of services.
