
Thomas
E. Donnelly, age 93 years, of Cross Plains and formerly of Elroy, Wisconsin,
passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg,
Wisconsin.
He was born on April 27, 1916 to Patrick J.
and Theressa (Mead) Donnelly at Elroy. He graduated from the Elroy High School
and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
Tom was a shoe repairman and operated a shoe
store in Elkhorn; following retirement he dealt in antiques and lived at North
Freedom, in recent years he lived at Cross Plains.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer
(David Helbach) Donnelly of Madison; son, Thomas (Denise) Donnelly of Elkhorn;
and grandchildren, Thomas, Travis, and Taylor. He was also lucky to have the
love and support of numerous nieces, nephews and their children, until the end
they provided comfort and inspiration to him and his family.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; the
mother of his children, Ramona Mae (nee Berndt); brother and sisters,
Marguerite (Alex) Suemnick, Patrick (Kay) Donnelly, Eleanor (Harley) Mitchell,
and Yvonne (Johnny) Brandstedter.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday,
October 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Elroy,
with Father Richard Dickman officiating. Burial with military rites will be
held at the St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery in Elroy. Friends may call at the
Church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests memorials be given for the Hospice Care Center at Fitchburg.
The family would like to express special
thanks to the staff of Meriter Hospital and the Hospice Care Center for their
dedication and professionalism provided to them.
