Veronica M. Obert, age 82 years, of Valley, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin. She was born on April 29, 1927 to George H. and Clara (Kolowrat) Kelbel Sr., at Burr Ridge, rural Hillsboro, where she grew to adulthood and attended the Burr Ridge grade school and Hillsboro High School. Veronica was united in marriage to Charles P. Obert on February 22, 1944 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2000. Veronica and Charles made their home in Valley. She helped him with his Can Milk Route to the Carnation Plant in Hillsboro for several years; Veronica also worked at Ray O Vac, the Hillsboro Garment Factory, and as a custodian at the Valley Schools. She was an active member with the Valley Community Center and the Eastman Homemakers. She enjoyed baking pies and cookies and also sewing and making quilts. Survivors include her daughter, Karren Seeley of Valley; grandsons, Randy (Deb) Seeley of Hillsboro and Rick (Kim) Seeley of Norwalk; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Alexis and Faith; a brother, George (Donna) Kelbel of Hillsboro; and an aunt, Helen Kolowrat of Hillsboro. In addition to her husband, Charles; she was preceded in death by her Parents, an infant son, Martin; a great-granddaughter, Grace Ann; sisters, Marlene Breidenstein and Adeline Vanderburg; and a brother, Frank Kelbel. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will be in the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery, Hwy. 82 west of Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. |
