Wilma Smith

Wilma C. Smith, age 91 years, of Onalaska and formerly of the Hillsboro area, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was born at home on March 31, 1918 to Frank W. and Agnes (Briskey) Rezac in Richland County, Wisconsin. Wilma was united in marriage to James D. Smith on June 19, 1940 in Hillsboro. Together they farmed in the Town of Hillsboro for many years. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1981. In addition to her helping on the farm, Wilma also worked as a nurse at Hansberys Hospital in Hillsboro and as a nurses aide at the nursing home in Elroy. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ellen Smith of Onalaska, Catherine (Dennis) Pedretti of Galesville, Annette Smith of Seattle, Washington, and Denise (Denis) Rollmann of Winona, Minnesota; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Pat (Amy) Pedretti and family, Dalton, Griffin, and Claire, Sue (Doug) Stanton and family, Tia and Tommy, Dick (Tasha) Pedretti and family, McKenna and Mason, Danielle Rollmann (and Corey OLaughlin), and Tess Rollmann; and sisters, Helen Jindrick of Wyoming and Marjorie Watson of LaCrosse. In addition to her husband, James D. Smith, she was preceded in death by her Parents and a brother, Frank R. Rezac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin, with Father Pat Umberger officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will take place Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Father Raymond Pedretti presiding.
