They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2014, in addition to the over 50 years of funeral service to the area. They have raised a daughter and three sons, all three becoming licensed funeral directors. Emil served in both the U.S. Army and Navy prior to becoming a licensed funeral director in 1957. They have also operated a flooring business, furniture store, and ambulance service in addition to their many community service ties.
