Frederick "Fritz" Slama

Frederick "Fritz" Slama   Frederick R. "Fritz" Slama, age 89 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Lakeview Health Care Center in West Salem, Wisconsin.   He was born on October 25, 1923 to James and Tillie (Herdliska) Slama at Trippville, Wisconsin. He graduated from Hillsboro High School. Fritz was united in marriage to Ramona Smith on October 22, 1949 in Hillsboro.   Fritz was involved with the business Hillsboro Farm Service, later Hillsboro Equipment for many years, from working as a mechanic and salesman to becoming an owner of the dealership and through retirement, his enjoyment for John Deere never ended. Another passion was traveling in their motor home to various destinations.   Fritz was also active in the community serving as a volunteer fireman, achieving the position of Fire Chief; he also served on the Hillsboro City Council. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and served on the building committee when the new Church was built.   Survivors include his wife, Ramona of Hillsboro; children, Don (Joanne) Slama of LaValle, Merry (Don) Preston of Union Center, Lori (Ross) Plucker of Lennox, South Dakota and Nancy (Bill) Niemcyzk of Novi, Michigan; eight Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents and two sisters, Shirley Amberg and June Slama.   Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, with Rev. Conrad Prell officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Research.
