Gerald "Jerry" McCracken Obituary

Gerald W. “Jerry” McCracken, age 83 years, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born at home on December 9, 1940, to Robert and Freda (Parrish) McCracken. He was the 6th oldest out of 11 siblings, 9 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated from Kendall grade school in 1958.

He lived in the Kendall area for many years where he farmed. He also did well drilling and construction and worked at Kwik Trip part time on the glazer line after he retired. He had a long-term relationship with his friend Donna, when she passed, Jerry moved out to Montana with his brother Don, which he enjoyed very much. When he moved back to Wisconsin, he moved to Hillsboro where he spent the rest of years.

When Jerry was younger, he played on a slow pitch softball for Ted’s Tap. He also enjoyed coon hunting and traveling. After he retired you could catch Jerry playing quite a few hands of Euchre with family and friends, going out for breakfast, sitting at home in the morning enjoying his cup of coffee, or his absolute favorite, going out to Babe’s Country Club to enjoy hanging with friends and having a few glasses of Korbel and trying his luck at the machines.

Jerry was an avid Green Bay Packer and Donald Trump fan! You didn’t want to get him started on those topics because you would never win the conversation. He was always making everyone laugh with his jokes and his many different costumes and sometimes would sing you a few Merle Haggard or George Jones songs. Everyone will miss the joy, laughter and smiles he brought to all of us.

Survivors include his children, Paula Mares and Tim McCracken; several Grandchildren and Great Grand Children; brothers, Larry, Charles, Joseph and Daniel McCracken; sister, Shirley Daniels and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; brothers, Robert, Lyle, Donald and infant brother, Harold and sister, Beverly Warsaw.
