Gerald R. Jerry Pityer

Gerald R. “Jerry” Pityer, age 70 years, of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin and formerly of Elroy, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Accent Care Hospice in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

He was born on December 16, 1953, the son of David and Mary Ann (Pavlicek) Pityer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The family moved to Redwood City, California where Jerry grew to adulthood and graduated from high school.  While there he also began working in a machine shop.

In the 1970’s they moved again to the Hillsboro, Wisconsin area where Jerry helped his grandfather and uncle on the farm.  Jerry later began farming between Hillsboro and La Farge.

He then decided on becoming a milk hauler for Grande and drove for several years and had a few other jobs driving truck for mail delivery and for Benson Fruit in Elroy, followed by working at Mauston Homes Sales.  Jerry then ended his career being a Care Technician at the Sand Ridge Treatment Center in Mauston.

Jerry was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” (Madden) Anderson on November 26, 1994 in Elroy.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; step children, Meghan Anderson (Ekan Heider) and Kevin (Priscila) Anderson; step grandchildren, Benji, Jeremy and Faith Anderson and sister, Rita (Bill) Schiller; as well as sisters and brothers in law and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a brother, David Pityer.

Jerry will always be remembered for his hard work and dedication to every endeavor he took on. He loved to build and fix things, always having new projects in the works. He also loved anything sci-fi and computer related. He liked sharing a good joke (and some bad ones, too). His laugh and smile will always be in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family will be having a graveside service at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Elroy.
