Jamie Jon Ladwig, age 50, of Elroy, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
Jamie was born on January 2, 1972, to Curt and Jane (Zentner) Ladwig at St. Joseph Hospital in Hillsboro, WI. He was the first baby born of the new year in 1972.
Jamie grew up in Elroy, attended and graduated from Royall High School in 1990, and later graduated from WWTC in Diesel Mechanics.
Jamie was married to Nicole Wilke and was blessed with Taylor, Noelle, and Logan.
Jamie’s first job was as a Lifeguard at Family Land in Wisconsin Dells where he earned several lifesaving awards. He went on to manage Pizza Villa for the Mattei family for many years and eventually purchased Pizza Villa from them. Jamie then went on to work for the City of Elroy as the Street Superintendent and then to work for Scott’s Construction.
Jamie was a member of the Elroy Fire Department for over 20 years where he rose to the position of Fire Chief for several years. He loved his Folgers coffee in the morning, deer hunting, golf, and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his children.
Survivors include his daughters, Taylor (Joe) Leonard of Tomah, Noelle Ladwig and son Logan Ladwig, both of Necedah; granddaughter, Kinsley; parents, Jane (Jeff) Fairchild of Mauston and Curt (Diane) Ladwig of La Crosse; brothers, Jason (Sarah) Ladwig of McFarland, John Ladwig of De Forest, Mike Ladwig of La Crosse and sisters, Melissa (Justin) Dyer of Bowling Green, KY, Emily (Lester) Iquique of Cudahy, and Jennifer (Nathan) Keavney of Madison. Jamie is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Don and Marge Ladwig (“Pa and Grandma”) of Elroy, and Clancy and Joan Zentner of Belleville.
A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a service at 2 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Elroy City Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elroy Fire Department.
A time of fellowship with a meal will be held at the American Legion Hall in Elroy following the services on Saturday, January 29th. This will be from 3 to 7 p.m.
