It is with a great sense of love and loss that we share with you the passing of Julieann “Judy” (Grant) Ziech, age 85 of Baraboo, Wisconsin. Judy slipped into a peaceful slumber and went to her heavenly home the morning of January 4th, 2024 at the St. Clare Meadows.
Judy was the only child of Clifford and Regina (Radtke) Grant and was born on October 14, 1938 in Elroy, Wisconsin. She spent her early years on Grant’s 4 Oaks Farm in Elroy; her sophomore year of high school the family moved to Baraboo, where her parents continued to farm on their Rolling Land Farm on Hwy 113.
Judy graduated from Baraboo High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation she met and fell in love with Melvin Morley Ziech from Reedsburg and they were married in April of 1956. From that marriage they were blessed with 6 children.
Judy loved to cook so it was only natural that her profession would be in the kitchen. She was a prep cook for several years at Devi-Bara restaurant and the rest of her work life was with the Thompson Family at Red Wagon restaurant in Baraboo and Mr. Pancake in Wisconsin Dells. Her retirement years were spent playing euchre with her friends, doing some serious thrift shopping and of most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Judy is survived by her children, Tony (Kay), Curtis (Chris), Lowell (Dianne), Greg, Saroya Frosch (Terry), Lance (Marla); and her honorary son, Joseph Dodge (Wendy); 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Melvin, and her very special friend Rosey.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bridget DeLong, and the numerous wonderful staff at St. Clare Meadows – there are way too many to name, but you all know who you are. Mom and the rest of us could not have done this without you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all and God bless you for all that you do for others.
The family will be holding a private service to celebrate Mom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Picha Funeral Home in Elroy is assisting with arrangements.
