Kathi J. Sterba, age 72 years, of rural Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 after complications following heart surgery at the UW Hospital in Madison, surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 21, 1951 to Kenneth and Betty (Poppy) Williams in New London, Wisconsin. She graduated from the New London High School in 1969.
Kathi was united in marriage to Roger Sterba on September, 18, 1971 in New London. They owned and managed a large farming and trucking operation, Sterba Farms and Sterba Trucking in the Town of Hillsboro for many years. Kathi was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, all while being involved in the daily operations of the Sterba businesses.
Kathi enjoyed volunteering for many years with her church and at school. She also enjoyed her flowers and gardening, cooking for family, decorating for Christmas and was a collector of Angels. Roger and Kathi enjoyed traveling when they were able to get each other away from the farm, especially to Branson and Florida, but their greatest joy was spending time with their family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Sterba; children, Lesa (Jason) Perry of Sparta, Brenda Sterba of Reedsburg, Greta (Daamian) Bender of Elroy, Erica (Dan) Schultz of West Salem, Ira Sterba (Bri) of Hillsboro and Mica Sterba of Hillsboro; mother, Betty Dowd of Weyauwega; grandchildren, Abigail Gredler, Paige and Jenna Perry; Blake Sterba, Trinity Sterba; Titus and Teegan Bender; Annalisa Schultz; Kashton, Ariella and Hudson Sterba; Logan, Landon and Liam Sterba; great grandchildren, Stella Gredler and Grayson Sterba; brother, Mark (Betty) Williams; sister, Tami (Bruce) Wolfgram; brother-in-law, Steve Sterba (Carl McGraw) and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth and in-laws, Richard and Betty Sterba.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 12 noon at the Burr Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Alan Tripp officiating. A time of visitation will be at the Burr Wesleyan Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, with a luncheon to follow the service.
