Orland Lawrence Hamburg, 85, of rural Wonewoc, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at home, being cared for by his wife Lynda.
Orland was born March 18, 1937. He was the son of Harold and Emeline (Mihlbauer) Hamburg. Following graduation from Wonewoc High School in 1955 he enlisted in the U.S. Army 1st Battle Group Company A 3rd Infantry, The Old Guard. He was in Washington D.C when President D. Eisenhower was president.
Orland met and married his wife Lynda Buttner August 20, 1960. Their first year they lived on a farm near Darian, Wisconsin and then moved to Wonewoc. For five years he worked at the feed mill in Union Center. Then they bought a nice farm at Bunker Hill near Cazenovia and farmed for over 25 years. He had a Grade A herd of Holsteins and got plaques for being a high producer of a small herd.
After selling the farm they built a house out in Dutch Hollow, LaValle. He went to work for Dan Kouba with a nice group of guys and became a well driller for five years.
The closest thing to Orland’s heart was his family. In addition to his sons, he raised his grandson, Billy; and his treasured great-grandson Logan.
Orland will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years Lynda; two sons, Timothy Hamburg of Elroy and Kim Hamburg of Reedsburg; two grandsons, Billy Hamburg of Dutch Hollow, LaValle, and John Hamburg of Baraboo, and his great-grandson, Logan Hamburg.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, and two brothers, Armond Hamburg and Darold “Buck” Hamburg.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in LaValle, with Rev. Robert Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle with Military Honors. Visitation will be Friday, April 29 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Picha Funeral Home in Wonewoc.
