Pearl J (Steffen) Leatherberry

Pearl Joan (Steffen) Leatherberry, 86 years old of Antioch, IL, gained her angel wings on the early morning of November 21, 2022.

She was born October 5, 1936 to the late Earl and Gertrude (Lange) Steffen in Elroy, WI. Pearl attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Church in Wonewoc, WI. She graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1954. Later that year, she married Carl Leatherberry and shared the next 68 years together. They lived in the Wonewoc area until 1956 when they moved to Hebron, IL for work and later moved to Antioch, IL where they have lived ever since.

Pearl worked at the Ben Franklin for many years. She enjoyed gardening and preserving the fruits of her labor. Her love and green thumb kept a bountiful beauty of flowers. On Sundays, you would find Pearl teaching the Word of God to little children at church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and doing cross stitch handwork.

Survivors include, her husband, Carl Leatherberry; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Steffen; and all of her brothers and sisters-in-laws.

Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until 7:00PM Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002. Additional visitation will be held at from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM Saturday, November 26, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 579 Lake St., Hillsboro, WI 54634. Interment to immediately follow in Pine Eden Cemetery, Wonewoc, WI.
