Ramona M. "Mona" Lankey

Ramona M. “Mona” Lankey, age 88 years, of Wonewoc, Wisconsin, was born on March 3, 1936 to Raymond and Louise (Jasper) Berberich in Valton, Wisconsin.  She passed away on April 17, 2024 at Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro.

Ramona married Harold Smith on February 14, 1953.  Later they divorced.

On December 2, 1986, she married Charles “Chuck” Lankey.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Millie) Smith and Sandy (Richard) Mitchell; step children, Steve (Lori) Lankey and Jim (Arliss) Lankey; step daughter-in-law, Ann Lankey; sister, Bonnie Marshall; grandchildren, Stacy Smith, Jenny (Dan) Scherbert, Scott Smith and Jamie (Jenna) Smith, Jesse Mitchell (Chantel), Justin (Ellie) Mitchell and Krystle Mitchell (Don), Shane (Brooke) Jefferies, Travis Jefferies (Angela) and Melissa Demaske; two step grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lankey; Parents; daughters, Roxann and an infant daughter, Rita; sisters, Irene and Darlene; brother, Roger; great grandchildren, Devon and Ellie Jefferies; stepson, Jeff Lankey and son-in-law, Eugene Demaske.

She worked several years at the Woolen Mill in Reedsburg and at Ray-O-Vac in Wonewoc.  She was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Wonewoc.  Mona enjoyed playing cards, yahtzee, reading and putting puzzles together.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father Don Bauer officiating.  Visitation at the Church starts at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in the St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery in Union Center. 

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Wonewoc.
