Roger L. Chalupecky, age 85 years, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at home, peacefully with his family.
He was born on November 12, 1936 to Joe and Velma (Picha) Chalupecky in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, where he grew to adulthood and graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1954.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, entering on November 5, 1959 and receiving his honorable discharge on Valentine’s Day in 1962.
Roger was united in marriage to Karen Needs on September 16, 1961 in Oblong, Illinois. Following Roger’s military service, they moved to Hillsboro, where they made their home and raised their family. Karen preceded him in death on June 8, 2016.
Roger worked at Schneider Grocery in Hillsboro for several years and then at Ray-O-Vac in Wonewoc for 36 ½ years. He also delivered the Wisconsin State Journal in the rural area for 45 years. Roger and Karen were volunteers for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for over 40 years.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, hunting and playing cards. When he had the chance, he also liked to go to the casino and have fun.
Survivors include his children, Holly Chalupecky (Lee Revels) of Union Center, Carla (Roger) Kelbel of La Valle, Eddie Joe (Wanda Kozlowski) of Washington, Missouri and Chad (Brittany) Chalupecky of Hillsboro; seven Grandchildren; fourteen Great Grandchildren, sister, Lois (Arden) Eberhardt of Kendall and sister-in-law, Janet (Steve) Menacher of Oblong, Illinois.
In addition to his wife, Karen; he was preceded in death by his Parents and grandson, SSgt US Air Force Dustan Chalupecky.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Thomas Hotek officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Private family burial with military rites will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.
